We can help students increase their Thrivability
As a long-time youth program leader and mom to three sons, I understand the struggles today's students and young adults are facing. Many are under pressure to catch up on their education while managing the stress and anxiety that comes with expectations to succeed in a troubling world.
Many young people lack the emotional regulation and resilience to struggle well. The problem is only getting worse:
- The education system is overwhelmed with learning recovery and stabilization.
- Most of the mental health services are at maximum capacity.
- Many students are not getting the support and skills they need to recover from the turmoil of recent years so they can flourish.
We help students build thriving skills: resilience, well-being, and life progress. The research is clear that thriving students experience greater achievement, exhibit greater confidence, and are better able to manage life change.
When students increase their ability to thrive, their Thrivability, they can experience the extraordinary!
Common Questions About Thriving
- How can your program help me thrive? We teach nine thriving skills that help you increase your ability to thrive… your Thrivability. Thriving skills help you learn to handle what’s tough, stack up more good, and live a life you love.
- What should I do first when building thriving skills? The Thrivability Mindset is the foundation for cultivating your possibilities with thriving skills. It comprises six layers: Command, Willingness, Belief, Aspiration, Prospection, and Curiosity. It is the basis for one of our core values: How you think is how you thrive.
- Why is Positive Psychology so important? Traditional psychology aims to reduce languishing. It helps you get back to your baseline of living. Positive Psychology aims to increase flourishing, helping you “live north of neutral” above your baseline by promoting more of what’s good in life, cultivating possibilities. This science reveals that extraordinary is possible!
- How is happiness different from thriving? You might feel compelled to pursue happiness, a destination you hope to arrive at someday. We believe that don’t have to wait to achieve happiness, rather you can build thriving skills to generate happiness on your life journey. Happiness is the fruit of thriving. Thriving generates happiness that cultivates your extraordinary.
- How can thriving skills affect my mental health? Thriving skills support positive mental health, especially when applied with concepts of self-leadership and personal development. All nine thriving skills help bolster mental health; however, they are not a substitute for clinical care when it is needed.
- What’s the fastest way to start thriving? To get started, increase your thrivability with small actions that improve thriving in habits you’re already doing. Drink more water. Take deeper breaths. Move your body more. Increase your moments of gratitude. Get more rest.
- What is the biggest roadblock to human thriving? For most people, their style of thinking keeps them from all that they are capable of. Most thoughts you have are not true, so you can improve your thinking and improve the way you feel. Subsequently, you’ll have better life outcomes.
